Can you play with old magic cards?
You can play them in Casual (not a “sanctioned” format, aka no events for it), Legacy, Vintage (I think?), and in EDH (also not a “sanctioned” format, but stores hold events for it, but no DCI rating). Not Standard or Modern, but those formats are pretty expensive.
Is paper MTG dying?
WOTC isn’t going to stop printing paper MTG and WOTC is going to go back to hosting tournaments by mid 2021. However, their focus and shift will be away from paper and they will never turn back. They will increasingly cater to whales (who provide greater margins) and print less-and-less product.
Are white bordered cards legal?
Yes, white bordered cards are legal. It is important to remember that fake Magic cards exist. Usually, these cards can be identified as fake under scrutiny. If these cards are found to be in use in a tournament, they should not continue to be used.
Why are gold bordered cards illegal?
Gold bordered cards do not have the standard card back. Gold bordered cards were used for reprints of Championship decks.
Are white bordered Magic cards worth anything?
Magic the Gathering Card Values #7: Time Vault Time Vault comes in three sets, Alpha and Beta with a black border. It is also printed in Unlimited with a white border, which is worth $600-1200.
Do Magic Cards hold value?
Every card can, and does, go up and down in value, sometimes in incredibly volatile ways. Each card can become popular for a new deck that is being used in competitions. This will always make the price go up. But the deck that has gone out of fashion will have its cards drop in value.
